Illustrated reader examines teenage emotions
Teenagers often make unhealthy choices to cope with strong and shifting emotions. This new program features a novella illustrated in colourful, graphics novel style. It examines how emotions affect behaviour plus gives techniques to identify feelings and understand their impact.
The version for instructors, is titled TemperTamers: A reader for adolescents; the student version has a teen-friendly title, Dynamite Emotions.
Dynamite Emotions begins with a mini-dictionary of 28 feelings that are referenced throughout the reader. The main characters are adolescents siblings, a boy and a girl, who take turns being the protagonist so youthful readers can relate to their own gender.
The story (written at a fourth grade reading level) is lively and true to life as it deals with everyday emotions. Sold as a package of five books.
