Scally’s World: Numbers and Sums provides a range of learning and consolidation activities, at relevant difficulty levels, such as
- counting sets of objects
- recognising numerals and number names
- adding and subtracting
- working with coins and weights
- and basic computer skills (keyboard/mouse control)
Across 17 activities, all possible skill combinations are provided on a variety of grid sizes to encourage students to spot number pairs or find hidden ones, match number names to numerals, match numerals to sets, count objects and even do simple addition and/or subtraction ‘sums’ with two or three (similar or different) operators. This is just the sort of practice many students need – and by selecting one of the pre-set profiles e.g. Year 1 – Term 2, the software automatically targets the activities at just the right level.
Ideal for whole-class demonstrations and collaborative small-group interaction using a whiteboard, and easily integrated into traditional classroom teaching, Scally’s World: Numbers and Sums can speak numerals, names and operators (with real British voices), and students can even pick a theme they like best e.g. Space, Ocean or Jungle.
With optional animations for correct answers, children are guaranteed to be entertained and stay focused!
Numbers can be in the ranges 0-5, 1-5, 0-10, 1-10, 0-12, 1-12 and the program will even work with answers up to 20 if required.
Bringing numbers to life with amusing animations, the software keeps children on task. Just watch their reactions when Scally floats, swims or flies up the screen in the (optional) progress bar!
