My Community teaches children and young people appropriate social behaviours, interactions, expectations, and safety precautions with peers and adults within their community. Whether going to the store or stopping by a friend’s house, it is important for everyone to know appropriate social behaviours. My Community, a CD-ROM by Social Skill Builder, incorporates video of real people interacting in a variety of community settings such as:
- a restaurant
- doctor’s office
- friend’s house
- grocery store
- neighbourhood
Children will learn about situations ranging from joining a group and working cooperatively to negotiating and managing frustration.
