Mission Control Input Device and MC Commander Software
by AT KidSystems, Inc
An alternative computer access device that's flexible and gives students more control than ordinary switches
Mission Control is a computer interface device that surpasses the functionality of a standard keyboard or standard mouse and allows for increased learning and game play. It has four aFFx activators and a built-in microphone. It can also accommodate four additional switches via ports at the front of the device.
Mission Control’s activators are proportional – meaning that they recognise force and duration. When comparing a standard switch with an activator – think of a light switch: an on/off light switch provides one effect (either on or off) while a dimmer switch provides multiple effects. For example, in the Bubbles activity of Cosmo’s Play and Learn Software, the activator is used to blow bigger and smaller bubbles. As the child presses the activator, the bubble increases in size; the harder the child presses the activator, the faster the bubble increases in size.
- Easy to manipulate alternative keyboard
- Four (4) colourful and easy to access aFFx activators aligned horizontally on a secure platform
- aFFx activators are designed to accept different pressure inputs including even the lightest touch from a user who demonstrates weakness
- Different than a switch, an aFFx activator senses duration and pressure, allowing for increased interactivity and adaptability
- aFFx activators are calibrated according to the child’s skills and abilities.
- Includes a functional built-in microphone to allow a child to access the software program with their voice
- Mission Control has an innovative design that encourages strength, range of motion, and coordination, and enhances language skills
- Four ports at the front of the device for connecting optional external switches

MC Commander Software
MC Commander is the software utility that allows Mission Control to be mapped to any off-the-shelf software that recognises a standard keyboard or mouse. With this utility, for example, you can map one activator to left mouse movement, right mouse movement, up mouse movement, down mouse movement; and then plug a switch into the front port of Mission Control and map that to a right mouse click – creating an accessible mouse tool. Alternatively you can map each activator on Mission Control to a switch action enabling you to use Mission Control with a wide range of switch-activated software. In addition, the microphone works with other software programs too – for example, by pairing it with a program like Sound Beginnings, vocalisation of specific words can be encouraged.
