Build an understanding of mathematical concepts and practise your skills
MathsWiz 2 includes over 120 exercises divided into 16 separate areas. More than 3100 questions in total are designed to teach:
- Multiplication and division – One table of multiplication at a time, or mixed tables
- Decimal point positions and the value of the digits – Whole numbers, decimal numbers, fractions and powers
- Conversion of lengths, weights and volumes – Whole numbers as well as decimals
- Calculation of percentages – Percentages, discounts, etc
- Calculation of fractions – Fractions, mixed form, and the connection between vulgar and decimal fractions
- Modern methods of mental arithmetic – Calculation of units, tens, hundreds separately, counting backwards, etc
- Geometry – Angles, perimeter and area of parallelograms and circles.
Ideal for students aged 12 to 15.
Other exercises promote an understanding of whole numbers, decimals and powers. Some exercises require the student to supply an answer, while others are multiple choice. Others have a time limit, which can be extended or removed.
Teachers can use MathsWiz 2 to create individual learning programmes for their learners and each student’s results can be recorded, to assess their progress. Teachers can also use the program to create additional questions and exercises tailored to their learners’ needs.
Motivating the students
In order to encourage the students to practise often, they collect points for every correct answer. Every student who has collected a certain amount of points is awarded a bronze diploma. Later on, even a silver and gold diploma can be reached.
