Explore Your Community is a full-year curriculum for transition students. The 24 lessons cover:
- transportation
- shopping
- dining
- banking
- and recreation.
Students participate in a consistent lesson sequence: answer anticipatory questions, study vocabulary, read an illustrated essay, watch a step-by-step video, follow a photo sequence, practise social skills, complete a comprehension test, and act out role plays.

The Explore Your Community Introductory Kit includes:
- The student book is heavily illustrated to support struggling readers.
Lesson sequence showing anticipatory activity, 2-page essay and photo sequence - The Instructor’s Guide has role play scenarios, teaching tips, and problem-solving discussion questions. The guide also includes a Win/Mac CD with PDF files of student materials for printouts and an electronic Image Library to create communication overlays and additional assignments.
