DynaVox M3
by DynaVox Technologies
Meet the M3! Easy just got easier.

The DynaVox M3 is a very durable, robust, and easy to use dynamic display communication device centred around the use of pre-recorded digitised speech and focused on scene-based functional communication. Along with its bigger brother, the M3Max, it is a complete solution for individuals who require a device with digitised speech and a dynamic display while still incorporating aspects inherent to all DynaVox products such as: ease of use and setup, ability to customise and program the device to the specific needs of the user, and the quality, support and customer care that makes DynaVox the leader in the dynamic-display communication tool industry.
Key Features and Benefits
- The M3 incorporates all the features of the highly popular MiniMo and MightyMo communication devices. In addition, new page sets included in the M3 with fewer buttons, more symbols with concrete representations and new InterAACt visual scenes reduce the cognitive load placed on the individual user making it the choice for emergent level communicators.
The pre-programmed pages provide a means to begin developing literacy skills based on core words and phrases organized in distinct categories, helping the user interact in a range of classroom, home and social settings.
- InterAACt Page Sets – The DynaVox M3 Software includes customised DynaVox InterAACt page sets. These page sets were developed by Speech Language Pathologists to provide appropriate communication tools for Functional (Emergent) communicators based on communication skill and age levels. Individual page sets are available for emergent skill levels within each age group. The M3 InterAACt Page Sets include:
- Facilitator Master Page – Included for each InterAACt age range. The facilitator master page allows a communication partner to quickly and easily find appropriate pages for the person who is using the device.
- Visual Scenes – Visual scenes use background images and active areas (invisible buttons) to set the context for communication. They enable the user to select a picture of the item that they want to communicate about, rather than selecting a button. Once the context is known, users can select specific messages from a grid of buttons that are attached to the item, or communication partners can ask questions based on the scene. Visual scenes are effective when the user is communicating about or interacting with an environment (bedroom, living room, office, etc.)
- Dynamic Pages – Some of the InterAACt page sets include pages that provide dynamic vocabulary options. These pages are designed to encourage real-time communication by minimising the required navigation for gathering the desired vocabulary. These pages include “quickfire” phrases that can be instantly adapted to casual, normal or formal situations, as well as groups of phrases that can shift from past to present or future tense with the touch of a single button.
- Facilitator Master Page – Included for each InterAACt age range. The facilitator master page allows a communication partner to quickly and easily find appropriate pages for the person who is using the device.
- Improved Durability – The M3’s new magnesium case is lighter and stronger than plastic, affording you years of reliable functionality in even the toughest conditions.
- Faster Communication – The M3’s new processor delivers exceptional performance, facilitating faster communication. Pages display quickly, and settings can be customised in an instant! Rapid communication in any context is possible with the use of single-word and phrase-based content. (All words must be digitally recorded into the device).
Tip: Have someone of a similar age or gender record messages so they sound realistic and appropriate to the user.
- Bigger Screen, Better Sound, Clearer Recordings – 21.3cm (8.4”) screen and new larger, front-firing speakers project with incredible audio clarity in any setting – there is an external speaker jack for even more sound. Included with every M3 is an external microphone for creating crisp, clear, high quality audio recordings.
- Easier Setup and Programming – Popular features, including simple customisation and programming with the use of the User Setup Wizard, remain readily available. Easy page creation with a new, simple method for creating pages by asking for button row and column sizes.
- Easier Navigation – Featuring Page Back, Home Page, Go To Buttons, Modify Button, Customisable Behaviours, etc.
- Easier Access and Selection Methods – The M3 also offers the widest variety of access methods in its class in the AAC industry, including touch enter, touch exit, mouse pause and scanning.
- PCS Symbol Sets – The M3 comes with the PCS symbol sets for use in communication pages. Users can also import and use their own custom symbol sets.
- Pictures – Custom digital pictures can be used as the background for a page or a popup, or as a button symbol.
- Environmental Control – The M3 provides the user with freedom and convenience through the use of its infrared transmitters and environmental control functions. Program the M3 to act as a “universal remote” for a television, CD player, DVD player or any other household appliance that uses a remote control. The M3 can also be programmed to operate X-10 infrared devices, as well as GEWA Jupiter phones or TASH phones.
- Easy Internet-based Software Upgrade – When the M3 is connected to the Internet, it will automatically search for software upgrades available from DynaVox. The M3 software will go through the steps to quickly and easily download and run the software upgrade.
