Benefits
The paint program for ClickerexpandClick to collapse
Clicker Paint adds painting features to Clicker 5, offering a whole new range of learning opportunities. Once you install Clicker Paint, painting features are automatically added to your Clicker 5 installation, offering a whole new range of learning opportunities for learners of all abilities.
Drawing a picture is a perfect starting point to get children writing, and the ability to talk about their picture offers a natural lead into the writing process. Add in sentence building grids and you have a unique environment for writers to express themselves.
1. Write your text
Students use Clicker’s sentence building grids to write into the talking book page, or type their text in from the keyboard.
2. Draw your picture
Illustrate your page using Clicker Paint’s child-friendly tools. Closing the canvas transfers the picture to the page of your book.
3. Record your voice
Read the text that you have written, or talk about the picture. Do the recording as many times as you like until you are happy with it.
Boost independence for emerging writersexpandClick to collapse
Early writers can paint a picture to show the main idea, helping them to think about what they want to write.
They may paint pictures to illustrate anecdotal writing or paint several pictures in sequence, helping them to organise their ideas, and to develop an understanding of beginning, middle and end in story writing. Or of course they may simply want to paint a picture to illustrate their story and really enhance their finished work.
‘Myself’ activity
This Clicker Paint set encourages children to talk about themselves. They paint pictures to match captions and then record a commentary.
Each page contains a caption, prompting children to paint a picture of themselves and their possessions. On the final page children record a commentary about the pictures.

Engage and motivate developing writersexpandClick to collapse
Students able to compose their own text can now create their own pictures too, enabling them to create an entire talking book independently.
Learners find this type of activity very motivating, and the finished book encourages your most reluctant writers to have a positive attitude towards writing.
‘A Winter’s Day’ activityThis Clicker Grid set is designed for students to write a description of different settings in winter and to illustrate their writing. Click on the pop-up buttons to use the word banks and to paint a picture.
Sequencing activity
An alternative style of Clicker talking book allows children to add more to a picture to build a sequence. Starting their picture on page 1, they add some more to it on page 2, and so on.
This breaks up an activity into small steps, and helps children to create an extended piece of writing with detailed illustrations.
Stimulate language developmentexpandClick to collapse
Clicker Paint helps develop speaking and listening skills using voice recording and spoken instructions. Where the learning focus is spoken language development, Clicker 5 with Clicker Paint provides stimulating activities that require no written text.
Students create their series of pictures and then use Clicker’s record button to add their own narration. Teachers may prepare the talking book in advance by adding spoken instructions to reinforce listening skills too.
Who is it?
Use the reveal feature to slowly reveal who is hidden in the picture. Can your learners tell who it is? How do they know? A great activity for the interactive whiteboard, touch screen monitors and fantastic for language development.
Record your voice
Students use the record button to talk about the pictures they have drawn, narrate their own version of an illustrated story or even read back words that have been provided in their Clicker talking book.
Promote active comprehension for all abilitiesexpandClick to collapse
Early readers and writers use Clicker 5 with Clicker Paint to demonstrate their comprehension.
Students read the text and show understanding of the meaning by producing an appropriate illustration.
‘Roman Soldier’ activity
This Clicker Grid Set enables students to demonstrate their understanding about Roman soldiers. Each page contains a sentence about one part of the soldier’s uniform. Students use Clicker Paint to stamp each piece of clothing or equipment on the soldier outline. The picture builds as each piece is added. Students can add labels to their picture.

More access to switch users than any other paint application
With Clicker Paint, switch users create their own illustrations. The tools and colours scan, and the canvas can contain any number of Sticky Points that are automatically scanned.
Some of our Clicker Paint activities only require one tool so all the others are removed, reducing the number of items to be scanned. Also, some activities begin with a fixed picture on a background, so the student does not have to start with a blank canvas.
Colouring and stamping activities are particularly successful with switches, giving users with disabilities access to creative activities not normally available to them.
