Read&Write Version 10 is a discreet, integrated solution for any person with literacy needs. It has been designed as a “floating” toolbar that will help improve reading and writing skills, with features such as speech feedback, phonetic spell checking, word prediction and homophone support to cover every aspect of the learning spectrum.
Read&Write works within any of the Windows based applications such as word processors, Email, Internet, Spreadsheets or databases.
“Read&Write is user-friendly, in that it does not require extensive initial training. It can be used immediately and provides our clients with a feeling of success that motivates them to continue and progress. It is not intimidating and most of our clients find it quite entertaining, which also promotes and encourages positive learning. It is a flexible tool that can be managed by clients at different levels and who work at different paces ? thus accommodating differential learning. Read&Write 10’s Reading features will help to speed up reading, assist with comprehension and improve vocabulary.
Enhanced Text-to-Speech
Read&Write 10’s text-to-speech features offer a simple and accurate way to read any text. Users can listen to text being read aloud in MS Word documents, emails or web pages with word highlighting to help with word recognition. New UK voices now available include Sangeeta and Serena.
Read&Write 10 also comes with Australian RealSpeak Solo voices as standard while remaining compatible with Microsoft SAPI 4 and 5 speech technology.
RealSpeak Voices
Read&Write comes with RealSpeak Solo voices – which give a more realistic sounding human voice and load in a fraction of the time taken by previous voices. Australian RealSpeak SAPI5 voices are available with Texthelp Read&Write programs from March 2005!

Daisy Reader
Read&Write 10 contains Daisy Reading technology and allows you to read your Daisy Books while working within the Read&Write program.

Read&Write 10’s Writing features will provide the necessary assistance to improve the accuracy of written work and will help with proof reading.
Phonetic Spell Checker
Read&Write 10’s spell checker will correct even more spelling mistakes than before. Corrections are based on user’s own spelling patterns and are supported by dictionary definitions of the suggested corrections which can be read aloud.

Enhanced Word Prediction
Texthelp’s word prediction is one of the most powerful prediction tools available. It will not only predict one word ahead from any application, but it will intuitively learn an employee’s writing style. Dyslexic employees often struggle with prediction due to inaccurate spelling. Read&Write 10’s word prediction tool will pick up even the most unusual spelling mistakes. It is now also much easier to add your own vocabulary.

Enhanced Sounds Like
This feature identifies words that sound the same but are spelt differently, such as ‘dear’ and ‘deer’ or words that are commonly confused, such as ‘through’ and ‘thorough’. The ‘Sounds Like’ feature lists possible alternatives with audible definitions and sample sentences to make proof reading easier.

Talking Dictionary
Read&Write 10’s talking dictionary provides clear definitions and sample sentences and is useful as a reference tool or a comprehension aid.

Word Wizard
For when a writer is just “lost for words”, the built-in thesaurus takes them from the word they know to the word they want. This helps the writer expand his/her vocabulary.

Simple Talking Calculator
