Helps you identify and assess your students' skills and abilities, select appropriate instructional software, and document each student's gains

The Stages framework starts with pre-academic skills and continues on to reading, writing, maths, and functional learning. Graphing and reporting functions allow you to measure your students’ progress in a meaningful way.
The Stages resources comprise of:
- Stages Software Solutions for Special Needs, 2nd Edition book – the definitive Stages book to help you master Stages
- Stages Assessment Software, for Grades Pre K-5 – identify and assess your students’ skills and abilities, helps you select appropriate instructional software, and document each student’s gains
- Stages Math: Number Sense Software, for Grades Pre K-3 – a comprehensive set of 20+ accessible activities that give your K-3 learner unlimited practice in eight key areas of number sense.
- Stages Report Wizard Software – processes saved Stages Assessment report data to plot graphs and analyse content
The Stages framework differs from other developmental sequences, and is more practical, because:
- It is written specifically for students who we already know are developmentally delayed
- It is deliberately not referenced chronologically, but in a developmental sequence.
- It is designed around observable and measurable milestones, competencies or behaviours
- It combines cognition and language skills (as opposed to separating them)
- It describes both software selection strategies and off-computer activities that address goals and observable characteristics of students, covering a range of skill areas.
Stages is designed to help special educators reach students with developmental language and cognitive challenges. The Stages Assessment Process helps gather information to develop an Individualised Educational Plan (IEP). Stages generates competency-based data for students whose understanding cannot be measured using standard assessment tools or methods. This data can be part of a student’s alternate assessment portfolio.
