Dana
The Palm™ powered laptop alternative that's truly affordable
Dana is a true alternative to the laptop. It combines the affordability of a handheld with the ergonomic benefits of a notebook computer.

And AlphaSmart pushes the Palm™ OS further by including a full-size keyboard and a screen that’s 3.5 times wider than the typical handheld screen. Lower total cost of ownership with Dana It’s apparent that Palm Powered devices are less expensive to purchase than laptops, but that cost advantage extends far beyond the purchase price. Because Palm Powered devices are designed to be easy to use, they are also less costly to own when compared to either laptop computers or Pocket PC-based devices. To a school, district or individual user, this means significant cost savings can be achieved by adopting Dana, rather than laptops or handhelds based on more expensive systems. A survey of organisations by Gantry Group, a market research firm, on the annual cost of owning Palm Powered and Pocket PC-based devices showed that Palm Powered annual costs were 41% lower overall, with savings coming in almost all areas. (See graph below). Because Dana runs Palm OS and comes bundled with the software you need every day, not only is Dana less expensive to purchase, its also much less costly to support and maintain – 75% lower than the annual cost of a laptop, and about 40% lower than handhelds running a Pocket PC. An investment in Dana will continue to pay dividends over time.
