Let the games begin!

Are you looking forward to the Olympics games which will kick off with the Opening Ceremony on the 27th July? I am. I’ll be watching the swimming and gymnastics and flying the Aussie flag!

But there is still plenty of time to create some fantastic resources for the classroom or home with some great symbol websites that have been getting into the Olympic spirit.

Widgit has created a range of activities that can be opened with a PDF reader. There are activity sheets, flashcards for flags of the countries, vocabulary lists, information materials and much more! They are all symbol supported materials that can be used along side of any other resources you have created.

Or if you are using any of the Boardmaker Software Family you can download additional Olympic PCS thinline symbols to import into your symbol library from Boardmaker Share.

There is a collection of 28 symbols to provide vocabulary about the 2012 Olympics in London including symbols for yachting, gymnastics, canoeing, diving, swimming, gold, silver, and bronze medals and more.

Just search for “2012 Olympic Symbols” and once you have downloaded them you can unzip the file and following the PDF instructions to put them into any of the Boardmaker software options.

You’ll also find a range of Olympic resources on Boardmaker Share that people have created and uploaded for you to access for free.

Have fun symbolising… and Go Aussies!
