iPhone and iPod accessories: iMainGoX and Pogo Sketch
Two new cool tools for use with iDevices have hit Spectronics’ shelves!
The first is the iMainGoX, an ultra-portable stereo and protective case for iPods and iPhones. Just unzip your iMainGoX. Plug in your device. Zip it closed. Turn your music on and stand back! Great volume for such a small unit – even better than that of its predecessor – the iMainGo2. It is also an excellent accessory for people with communication impairments who are using their iDevices for communication as the number of Apps available for this purpose are increasing rapidly. Read Jane Farrall’s latest update to her review of AAC Apps. The iMainGoX can also be plugged into an iPad or a laptop computer as an external speaker to boost volume above that possible with their own inbuilt speakers.
The second cool tool is the Pogo Sketch. The soft tip glides easily over the surface of your laptop trackpad, iPhones, other smartphones, iPods and iPad displays, making it fun and easy to sketch, take notes, or just to slide to unlock. Sized for comfort, it does away with inaccuracies common to fingertip-only use. Sign documents without printing or scanning! Or instantly add your own drawings or diagrams to documents. Try the free version of Autograph to get a taste of how this works. We have even seen it used successfully to type on an iPad when attached to a head pointer (as standard head pointer tips will not be recognised as a finger touch by the iDevices). Cool!
