Co:Writer SmartApplet Installation
Because we use the $ sign in Australia, you will most likely have an AlphaSmart 3000 which has an American ANSI Keyboard. If you wish to install the UK version of Co:Writer, it is important that you follow these installation instructions:
For PC’s running Windows:
- Close all programs and turn off any virus protection on your computer
- Insert the Co:Writer Smart Applet CD
- Double click on My Computer
- Double click on CoWriter Smart A
- Double click on UK Version
- Double click on Setup.exe
- Accept the defaults until you reach the Setup Type window
- Choose Custom and click on Next>
- The next window has Select Components
- Click on the tick next to CoWriter Smart Applet -ISO Keyboard to deselect it
- Click on the box next to CoWriter Smart Applet -ANSI Keyboard to select it
- Click Next> and continue with the rest of the installation
Check that you have CoWriter SmartApplet ANSI in your AlphaSmart program file before loading it on your AlphaSmart 3000.
For Macintosh Computers:
- Close all programs and turn off any virus protection on your computer
- Insert the Co:Writer Smart Applet CD
- Double click on the UK Folder
- Double click on OS 8-9 or OSX
- Double click on Co:Writer Smart Ap Installer
- Click on Continue
- Click on Continue
- Click on Agree
- Within the window Install the following:
Ensure [ ] Standard Install is not selected, since this is for use with British AlphaSmarts
Select
[X] UK ANSI Support Applet
[X] Topic Loader (if required)
[X] Documentation (if required) - Open your Macintosh HD window
- Double click on the Don Johnston folder
- Double click on the CoWriter Smart Ap folder
- Double click on CoWriter Applet UK—ANSI folder
- and follow instructions to load onto your AlphaSmart 3000
