Objective:

Each Monday, year 3 starts the week off with a journal writing session. In Term 1, students learn to organise their writing under the following categories:

  • When
  • Who
  • What
  • Where

They also are encouraged to add a sequence of events after the initial information is written.

Activity Outline:

  1. Class discussion/orientation – teacher models writing weekend news for journal under categories.
  2. Students go back to desks and use a sheet with icons representing categories . Under each category (who what where etc) they write two or three key words.
  3. Students then write up their journals using key words sheet to help them.
