Focuses on the themes that allow students to get to know one another in their new class.

Objective:
First week back at school, class teachers often focus on the themes that enable students to get to know one another in their new class.
Activity Outline:
- Activity started with a worksheet that the entire class carried out where students had to find a person in the class who had certain features or physical characteristics. The class teacher read out one direction at a time.
For example:- Find a person in your class who has the same hair colour as you.
- Find a person in your class who wears glasses.
- Find a person in your class who has a pet.
- Followup written activities for students with physical impairment and learning difficulties were:
- Take a photo of a friend with the digital camera
- Download onto the computer and print one copy out
- Cut and paste under picture a short descriptive phrase about that picture. Descriptive phrases prepared and printed out using Writing with Symbols 2000. (File: describe)
- Sequence words into simple sentences about all the people in the group using a single Clicker 4 grid. (See file “about us”)
